New Multi-Use Building in Downtown Black Mountain

PRESS RELEASE — Developer Joe Cordell retains Kudzu Brands to act as local liaison for The Trestle Crossing, a multi-use commercial building project slated for downtown Black Mountain in April 2018.

Joe Cordell, the Missouri-based attorney who has plans to build a three-story development in the heart of Black Mountain’s historic district, has retained Black Mountain based branding and marketing firm Kudzu Brands to act as a local liaison for the project.

Murphy Funkhouser Capps, CEO of Kudzu Brands says, “We have been retained to act as liaison between the developer and the citizens of Black Mountain. The goal is to provide timely, relevant information and to support thoughtful conversations within the community. We will be present at meetings and available to directly answer questions.”

Says local business owner, Nathaniel Ruland,  “It is a good sign that (Cordell) is using a local architect, local PR firm, and local landscaper. It demonstrates that he is truly  invested in this community”.

Kudzu Brands also partnered with Mr. Cordell to develop a logo and a brand aesthetic for the building, one that honors the Black Mountain community and its history. Future design work will include the creation of building signage and building artwork that will enhance the building and contribute to the historic charm of the downtown area.

Most importantly, Kudzu Brands will establish a communications network, including a website and Facebook page, where the community can get answers to questions, submit additional queries and find out how the project is progressing.

Says Funkhouser-Capps, “The overall goal is to alleviate concerns and to communicate effectively about the project and its next steps”.

Funkhouser-Capps, who will be the primary contact for inquiries about the project, says that she understands “change can be difficult or unsettling”. She believes, however, that the building will stimulate positive economic growth. “The town and Chamber have worked together for many years to create an entrepreneur-friendly community. This building contributes to that vision. It will attract new visitors and provide increased revenue and traffic for downtown businesses. What we want is more opportunity for the businesses that already exist here.”

Kudzu Brands will provide the following support to the project:
